Integrated Pipeline

COMING SOON!

Our new Integrated Pipeline map will be released soon. The Integrated Pipeline captures the projects and interventions needed to deliver the full scale of our ambitions through investment in physical infrastructure including our strategic employment and housing sites, town centres and city centre developments over the next 10 years bringing them together for the first time into a single platform. This will be a first version of the map, and will be updated, developed and enhanced over the coming months.

Why do we have an Integrated Pipeline?

Our 10-year integrated growth pipeline will reinforce GM’s growth fundamentals – supporting the delivery of the 175,000 new homes and 5,000,000 sqm of employment space identified in our Places for Everyone plan; unlocking the potential of our six Growth Locations; regenerating our town centres; and delivering critical transport infrastructure supported by our Local Transport Plan. The Pipeline will underpin our Local Growth Plan with Government and will be specifically aligned with the National Industrial Strategy, National Infrastructure Strategy and national skills approach.

The Integrated Pipeline will support us in directing resources and investment capacity, to deliver our nationally significant and globally connected economic clusters in frontier sectors like Life Sciences; AI, Cyber and tech; Advanced Manufacturing and Materials; Creative and Media; Financial, Business and Professional Services; and the Low Carbon and Clean Energy sector. We will ensure expansion in our key sectors by creating new innovation districts and expanding our existing ones: delivering more high specification manufacturing and laboratory spaces to accelerate the commercialisation of innovation developed in our universities and spinout companies; and providing the essential grow-on space our businesses need to expand and grow - increasing the productivity of our economy. The approach will similarly support the development of commercial space necessary to attract global inward investment to the city region that can benefit from our developing ecosystems.

To support this activity, our pipeline will be a visual, interactive tool that will also include our plans for thousands of new homes and neighbourhoods, built around our major employment sites and town centres in our six Growth Locations, supported by the right infrastructure and transport so our residents can access the opportunities that growth in GM presents. As it develops to its full potential over the coming year, the pipeline will provide an important tool to support GM in its prioritisation and investment decision making.

A paper explaining the Integrated Pipeline is available on the GMCA website.
